Owen Johnson

Owen Johnson’s years in professional baseball were years of disarray.  Professional baseball had an unsettling and disruptive effect on his life.  Jesus brought change and led Mr. Johnson into the ministry.  The basis of his ministry was personal holiness and intimate relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Mr. Johnson was originally from Greensboro, North Carolina, where he attended Greensboro Senior High School.  Although he was raised in a Christian home, it took the frustration and pressure of professional baseball, coupled with a near air tragedy and a dream about Jesus Christ, for him to see his need for a personal savior.

Among Mr. Johnson’s many honors, we find he was named All-State in baseball his senior year in high school.  After graduation from high school, he signed his first professional baseball contract with the Philadelphia Phillies.  Mr. Johnson continued in professional baseball for thirteen seasons and made it to the major leagues with the Boston Red Sox and the Baltimore Orioles in 1966 and 1967 respectively.  He also played one season in Toronto, Canada and three seasons of winter baseball in Caracas, Venezuela.  In the fall of 1969 Brother Johnson retired from professional baseball as a player-coach in the Houston Astros organization to enter Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina.  Brother Johnson was an ordained Southern Baptist minister who had pastored for 43 years in North and South Carolina.

God used Pastor Johnson in special miracles and healings.  These signs accompanied his ministry.  The gifts of prophesy and the word of knowledge frequently operated in his ministry.

Pastor Johnson went on to be with the Lord on March 4th 2016 . He was the father of 6 children.  His youngest child, Jason, was killed in a car accident at the age of 16.  Brother Johnson was the pastor of Grace Church, founder of Grace Christian School and president of Grace Theological Seminary, outreach ministries of the church.

Pastor Johnson’s teachings encouraged believers to seek God that they might enter into that realm of victorious living that he has in store for those that believe.  Following the messages from Brother Johnson, many believers experienced a new move of God in their lives.  Pastor Johnson’s message was designed to prepare the bride for her soon coming King.
